Want to Wiki?

UMass Boston Wikispaces

Get started

Get started with UMass Boston’s Wikispaces by visiting and clicking the Sign In link in the upper right. The UMass Boston Wikispaces now features “single sign on”, so all students and faculty receive accounts automatically and with zero wait–it’s the same username and password you use for your University email!

Get your own

Want your own wiki? You’ll be in complete control, and can make any changes you like without special software or asking permission. You decide who has access and what pages are public and private–and it’s so easy to use. All you need is internet access and a web browser. Faculty and staff are already using wikis courses, project management, research, as a personal site, and for collaboration with others on or off-campus.

After you’ve played in the sandbox wiki and visited our demo wiki, you’ll definitely want one of your own. From the main UMass Boston wiki, click on Request Wiki in the left hand navigation bar, and follow the directions when sending your request to We’ll have one ready for you within a few days. Need more? Just ask!

Get rolling

For courses, you’ll need to invite your students to become members of your course wiki or give them the wiki URL so that they can request to join. If some of your collaborators do not have campus email accounts, we can create wiki-only accounts for them to use–please send their names and email information to

The UMB Wiki User’s Group and at Wikis 101 hold helpful introductory information, and you can sign up for one of our regular wiki workshops at the UMB Training Portal.
